SEO Specialist

Are you passionate about digital marketing with a specific interest in SEO? Are you looking for a career with an established team and growing business? We are a Richmond, VA area marketing agency, seeking a motivated SEO Specialist to join our dynamic digital marketing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing effective SEO strategies to optimize the online presence for our own and our client’s businesses. We have served clients around the world for over 30 years and are dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our customers.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Perform ongoing keyword research to identify high-value, relevant keywords including discovery and expansion of keyword opportunities.
  • Optimize website content, including meta tags, headings, images, CTA forms, tracking codes, and URLs, to improve search engine visibility and user experience.
  • Collaborate with content creators to develop compelling, SEO-friendly content that resonates with target audiences and aligns with keyword strategy.
  • Perform on-page and off-page SEO activities, including link building, directory submissions, and outreach campaigns, to enhance websites’ authority and credibility.
  • Monitor and analyze website performance using SEO tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEMrush, and provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO, search engine algorithms, and digital marketing techniques, and proactively implement new strategies to maintain our competitive edge.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including copywriting, graphics, web development, and design, to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into all aspects of online presence.
  • Track and report on key SEO metrics, such as organic traffic, keyword rankings, conversion rates, and ROI, to measure the effectiveness of our SEO efforts and identify areas for optimization.
  • Identify technical SEO issues and work with the development team to implement solutions and improve website performance and crawlability.
  • Continuously evaluate competitor websites and industry trends to identify opportunities and threats and adjust our SEO strategy accordingly.
  • Understand and implement processes and procedures for meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an SEO Specialist or similar role, with a strong track record of driving measurable results.
  • In-depth knowledge of SEO best practices, search engine algorithms, and ranking factors.
  • Proficiency in SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush, etc. Relevant SEO certifications (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Ads) are a bonus.
  • Experience managing CMS such as WordPress, Joomla, and hosted solutions such as WIX or Hubspot.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
  • Computer skills, with working knowledge of Gmail, Google Drive, and the associated programs used for word editing and spreadsheets.
  • Consistent access to a reasonable distraction free workspace, reliable smartphone/mobile device, and PC. PC must meet our security and performance standards as set by IT support.
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles Driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check, and other pre-employment screening.

  • Must be able to work independently and collaborate with a remote/hybrid team and have excellent organizational skills to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrate the ability to constructively approach and solve a challenge.
  • Process and detail-oriented; ability to provide and maintain detailed documentation.
  • Comfortable working with a team, with exceptional listening, communication, and collaborative relationship building skills.
  • Quality-focused, detail-oriented, able to plan, prioritize, stay organized, work efficiently, meet deadlines, and keep accurate records of time and client activity.
  • Exceptional telephone, communication, active listening, and client care skill skills.
  • Demonstrate punctuality as a value; on time for meetings and appointments.
  • Able to work effectively from a 100% remote office; leverage an appropriate mix of traditional means of communication with technology to stay connected and advance relationships with partners, leads, clients, and employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrates initiative to explore available tools and resources to autonomously solve problems or challenges, with a good understanding of when to get a supervisor involved in decision making.
  • Ability to work after-hours upon occasion.
